Updated October 17, 2024 - 11:41 am

Las Vegas police detectives investigated a shooting that left a juvenile dead Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. on the 7100 block of Bramble Court near South Buffalo Drive and West Charleston Boulevard, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ken Nogle.

A preliminary report Wednesday night said the shooting may have been accidental.

Police said in an update on Thursday that homicide detectives determined a group of friends were handling a firearm inside a residence when a 15-year-old male juvenile shot the victim.

Police said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The teen suspect was arrested at the scene and booked into Clark County Juvenile Hall on a charge of open murder, according to authorities.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
