Henderson man kills wife, calls 911 to confess, police say
A 64-year-old Henderson man shot his wife in their home Sunday afternoon, called 911 to confess and waited for officers to arrive, police said.
Dennis Kopp was taken into custody without incident about 4:45 p.m., outside his house in the 1700 block of Sequoia Drive, between Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Valle Verde Drive near Warm Springs Road, according to a Henderson police news release. Koop, who was booked into the Henderson Detention Center, faces murder charges.
A 62-year-old woman was found inside the home inside a spare bedroom with a gunshot wound, the release said. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment but died of her wounds about 5:30 p.m.
Kopp called 911, saying he had just shot his wife inside their home, the release said. He remained on the phone with dispatchers until officers arrived at the house. Police believe the handgun found inside the home was used in the shooting.
The Clark County coroner will release the identity of the woman once family members have been notified.
The woman’s death is the sixth murder in Henderson this year.
