Coroner identifies south Las Vegas Valley homicide victim

The Clark County coroner on Monday identified a man who died Saturday afternoon after a battery at a south valley apartment complex.

Just before 2:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a battery at a complex in the 5100 block of Greene Lane, near the intersection of Hacienda Avenue and Maryland Parkway, police said.

Officers found David Lee Helmer, 44, of Las Vegas, suffering from unknown injuries. He was taken to Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center where he later died, police said.

According to Las Vegas police, no one has been arrested in connection with the homicide. No suspect details have been released.
