Coroner identifies 2 men shot to death early Sunday

Two men shot to death early Sunday have been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Edgar Palomino, 33, and Javier Rodriguez Ruiz, 29, both died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office. Their deaths were ruled homicides.

Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, Metro responded to the 2400 block of East McWilliams Avenue, near North Bruce Street and Maryland Parkway. Officers arrived and found two men — later identified as Palomino and Ruiz — lying on the ground outside of a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Ruiz and Palomino were taken to University Medical Center, but later died of their injuries, Metro said.

The initial investigation from Metro’s Homicide Section said the two men were in the driveway when two other men walked by and “words were exchanged,” Metro said. The exchange escalated into an argument and one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot Palomino and Ruiz multiple times, according to Metro.

“Both suspects were last seen running westbound on McWilliams Avenue toward 23rd Street,” Metro said.

Metro spokesman Michael Rodriguez said that as of Monday no suspects are in custody and further details about possible suspects have not been released.
