Bank account set up for family of officer killed in Las Vegas shooting

An official bank account has been created for the family of fallen Las Vegas police officer Charleston Hartfield.

The Metropolitan Police Department officer and recently published author of a memoir about life on the force was fatally shot during the mass shooting at the Route 91 country music festival.

The account, set up by the Injured Police Officers Fund, was announced Monday. To ensure that donations directly benefit Hartfield’s family, Metro asks donations be made to #3089445211 at Wells Fargo.

Hartfield was a 34-year-old military veteran known as Charles, Chucky or “ChuckyHart.” He was a sergeant first class in the Nevada Army National Guard, assigned to the 100th Quartermaster Company, based in Las Vegas. Brig. Gen. William Burks, adjutant general of the Nevada Army National Guard, called him “the epitome of a citizen-soldier.”
