Argument preceded fatal shooting of woman in Las Vegas

A woman fatally shot Thursday afternoon in the central Las Vegas Valley was killed while she was visiting a friend.

Police were called just before 2 p.m. Thursday to a house on 4200 block of Ridgeview Drive, near South Torrey Pines Drive and West Flamingo Road, and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the living room. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives found that the woman was visiting her friend, who lived in the home. About a minute after she entered the home, police said a man yelling at the woman came inside and shot her.

Witnesses told police the suspected shooter had been staying at a nearby residence and had engaged in an argument with the woman before the shooting. As of Friday morning, a suspect had not been identified.

The victim will be named by the Clark County coroner’s office once her family has been notified. Her death marks the 145th homicide in Clark County this year and the 122nd investigated by Metro.
