2 bodies discovered in eastern Las Vegas home

Updated December 22, 2017 - 4:24 pm

A man and a woman were found dead Friday morning inside their eastern valley home.

Both the man and woman, who were in their 50s, had a history of “substantial medical conditions,” Las Vegas homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said, but Metropolitan Police Department detectives were requested to the home on the 4000 block of Vader Avenue, near East Russell Road, after emergency personnel discovered the man had at least one gunshot wound to his head.

At 10:40 a.m., after failing to get in contact with the man and woman, their caregiver called 911 requesting a welfare check. McGrath said the caregiver was scheduled to meet with the two Friday morning and last spoke to them about 6 p.m. Thursday.

At the scene, McGrath said he could not confirm whether the deaths would be investigated as a double homicide or a murder-suicide.

As of 2 p.m., Metro’s crime scene investigators were still documenting the scene, and the bodies had not been moved. It is unclear whether the woman had any gunshot wounds.

McGrath added that it “didn’t look like anything was out of place” inside the home.

The identities of the victims will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after their families have been notified.
