1 killed in shooting near Las Vegas airport

Updated September 11, 2021 - 2:10 pm

A man was killed in a shooting near McCarran International Airport on Friday night.

Officers were called at 8:13 p.m. to the 5000 block of Spencer Street, near Tropicana Avenue, after a report of a shooting, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jesse Roybal. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Metro said in a statement Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

Investigators believe the man was in a parked vehicle with an “unidentified suspect,” when the other person pulled out a gun and shot him. The other person then fled the scene before police arrived, Metro said.

As of Saturday afternoon, detectives have not determined a motive in the shooting.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identified the man who was shot and killed.

Further information was not immediately available.
