Fleeing robbery suspect causes 3 crashes on US 95

A robbery suspect who fled police caused several crashes early Wednesday morning after driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 95, Las Vegas police said.

Police were called just after midnight with the report of a robbery in the 1500 block of Palora Avenue, near East Vegas Valley Drive and South Maryland Parkway, Metro Lt. David Gordon said.

A man reported that someone tried to rob him, and after he called police he proceeded to follow suspect in his vehicle, Gordon said.

He said “the suspect was driving recklessly” in the wrong lanes. A Metro patrol vehicle attempted to stop him at U.S. 95 and Las Vegas Boulevard North. The driver entered the northbound lanes, traveling in the wrong direction.

Metro did not pursue the vehicle on U.S. 95, Gordon said.

The driver caused three accidents before he was taken into custody near U.S. 95 and East Charleston Avenue, Gordon said. Nevada Highway Patrol handled the accident and Metro arrested the driver, he said.
