Youth activist sentenced to prison for meth trafficking

RENO — A community youth activist in Reno has been sentenced to two to six years in prison for trafficking in methamphetamine.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that Washoe County District Judge Brent Adams imposed the sentence Friday on 40-year-old Roberto Nerey, who earlier pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was accused of twice selling meth to law enforcement authorities in an undercover sting last July.

As a gang member, Nerey went to prison in the 1990s for his role in a drive-by shooting. He later founded anti-gang organizations.
