Woman stabbed to death, suspect commits suicide

A man stabbed his girlfriend to death and then committed suicide by stepping in front of highway traffic Tuesday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Police said the body of a woman was found just after midnight inside an apartment at 5711 W. Tropicana Ave., near Jones Boulevard in the southwest valley.

An hour later, the victim’s boyfriend parked his vehicle at U.S. Highway 95 near College Drive in Henderson. He exited the vehicle and then jumped into an oncoming semi-truck.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police said the man and woman had been dating for 1½ years and lived together. The case was classified as a murder-suicide.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man and woman.
