Woman injured in house party shooting still in critical condition
A 32-year-old woman who was seriously wounded in a shooting at a northeast valley house party last weekend continued to fight for her life Thursday night at University Medical Center.
A hospital official said Karen Sinatra was in critical condition.
Las Vegas police initially reported she was critical after the early morning shooting Sunday.
At a Tuesday news conference, police said she was stable.
Betty “Jay” Pinkney, a 17-year-old senior at Desert Pines High School, was killed in the shooting.
Police said the shooting occurred about 12:45 a.m. at a home in the 4200 block of Tattersall Place, near Craig Road and Lamb Boulevard.
Dozens of teen revelers were at the party when a group of partygoers began arguing. The group was kicked out of the home, and the argument continued outside. Shortly after, bullets were sprayed toward the home.
Police said Pinkney was struck when a bullet went through a wall. Sinatra, a resident of the home, was upstairs when she was struck by gunfire.
Police said they think that neither Pinkney nor Sinatra was an intended target in the shooting.
As of Thursday night, police hadn’t announced any arrests in the case.
