Victim in fatal shooting at Deja Vu strip club identified

A man killed in a shooting outside a strip club Sunday morning was identified Monday.

Robert James Turman, 23, was shot and killed about 4:45 a.m. outside the Deja Vu club, in the 4700 block of Arville Street near Tropicana Avenue, west of the Strip.

Las Vegas police said two men were asked to leave the club. Once outside, one of the men, who had been involved in an argument inside the club, was shot while standing in the club’s valet parking area.

Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said the shooting victim died at University Medical Center.

Another man, who appeared to have no relationship with the men asked to leave the club, was shot in the foot. That man was expected to be OK, police said.

Roberts said two men wearing dark clothing fled the scene. The shooter was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Roberts said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

Roberts said the shooting did not appear to be related to the previous night’s basketball game between UNLV and top-ranked North Carolina at the nearby Orleans Arena. The Rebels beat the Tar Heels, 90-80.
