Two seriously hurt in separate shootings

Two people were seriously injured after being shot in separate areas of the Las Vegas Valley late Tuesday, Las Vegas police said.

Lt. Mark Reddon said the first shooting occurred at 6:45 p.m. near H Street and Owens Avenue.

A woman was walking with a man when a dark green vehicle approached them. The man who was walking approached the window of the vehicle and was shot several times in the upper torso. He was still alive as of 8:45 p.m.

The shooting might have been gang-related.

Reddon said that at 8:20 p.m. at the Mountain Ridge Park at 7151 Oso Blanca Road, in the northwest valley near Sky Pointe Drive and Elkhorn Road, a young man was shot in the neck in what appeared to be a robbery attempt. The victim might have been paralyzed, Reddon said.

Reddon said he did not know whether the victim was a teenager or an adult.

Late Tuesday, police had not made arrests in either shooting.
