Two arrested in North Las Vegas gang shooting

Two men were arrested on murder charges Friday after a North Las Vegas gang shooting that left one man dead and a teenager injured.

Nigel Richey and Terry Randolph, both 20, were booked at the North Las Vegas Detention Center on charges of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

The men were accused in the shooting death of Sidney Hampton, 22, who died Wednesday night at University Medical Center. He had been shot in the head about 1 p.m. that day in the 2400 block of Morton Avenue, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue.

Hampton and a 16-year-old boy were in a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the Buena Vista Springs Apartments when the shooter approached on foot and fired on them.

The teenager was expected to be OK, police said.

Police said the shooting was in retaliation for a Tuesday gang shooting in which one man was critically injured.

They said the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was urged to call North Las Vegas police at 702-633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
