Suspect arrested in Bullhead City homicide

Police have arrested a suspect and identified the victim of a Thursday homicide. Bullhead City police spokeswoman Emily Montague said Carlos Elisinio Gomez, 24, ambushed 39-year-old Daniel Mares Lopez as Lopez was returning home from jogging.

Lopez suffered multiple gunshot wounds when attacked in the street near Coronel Drive and Coronado Drive, and was pronounced dead at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. Montague said Gomez was upset upon learning that Lopez was having an affair with his 15-year-old girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child.

Gomez was arrested at his workplace Friday and booked into the Mohave County jail on a first-degree murder charge.
