Clark County School District police said they arrested Zechery Campbell, 49, Thursday afternoon at Silverado High School after he brought a gun onto school property.
He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on the recommended charges of loitering about school with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and resisting arrest. Campbell’s first name is spelled Zachary according to county jail records.
Police said they recovered an unloaded 9 mm handgun.
Police Lt. Ken Young said Campbell, who is not a school employee, did not take the gun into the school.
The school was placed on lockdown for a short time as police investigated, but later reopened.
Police said at 11:30 a.m. they were notified that two "school-age males" were being chased by an adult with a firearm. School police then found Campbell in Silverado’s parking lot. He matched the description of the man giving chase.
