‘Scarf Face’ robber sentenced to 14 years in federal prison

An armed robber that police dubbed “Scarf Face” because of the black scarf he wore to conceal his identity was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison on Friday.

Lonnie Troy III, 36, of North Las Vegas pleaded guilty in February to robbery and firearm charges.

While robbing a local cellular phone store on Dec. 30, 2009, and a Circle K the next day, Troy brandished a chrome-plated, .45-caliber revolver and wished the victims a merry Christmas, said Natalie Collins, spokeswoman for the U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.

Troy had been convicted previously of three felonies, including a gun charge in 2007, Collins said.
