Sandoval appoints lawyer to 5th Judicial District Court

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has appointed Kimberly Wanker to the 5th Judicial District Court in Nye County.

Sandoval announced the appointment Tuesday. Wanker replaces the late Judge John Davis, who died in January at age 76.

Wanker was an associate with the Gordon & Silver law firm in Las Vegas from 1989 to 1995. During that time, she focused on civil litigation and misdemeanor criminal practice.

She opened a private practice in the mid-1990s, handling business, employment and administrative litigation.

Wanker has practiced in state district and justice courts. She has also handled cases before the Nevada Supreme Court, U.S. District Court and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

She lives in Pahrump.
