Robbery yielded little for men arrested in shooting

Two young men arrested in a skateboard park robbery and shooting that left a teenager seriously injured Tuesday night didn’t get away with much, a Las Vegas police report states.

According to the report released Thursday, 21-year-old Jerry Santistevan and Elijah Alvarado, who is a minor, only made away with a few cell phones, a skateboard and a wallet in two separate robberies.

The report said an 18-year-old man who was shot might be paralyzed from the waist down after a bullet severed his spine.

Santistevan and Alvarado face several felonies including attempted murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police said that at 8:20 p.m. a young man was shot in the neck at Mountain Ridge Park, 7151 Oso Blanca Road, in the northwest valley near Sky Pointe Drive and Elkhorn Road.

Both Santistevan and Alvarado were alleged to be involved in the shooting. They are also accused in a separate robbery at Buffalo Drive and Golden Talon Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The report said they both admitted to the robberies. Alvarado said he did fire a gun, but did so to scare the victims, and didn’t mean to shoot the 18-year-old man.

Santistevan also told police he robbed one of the victims because the victim owed him money. The victim who owed him money was not the person who was shot.

The report said the police recovered the weapon used in the robberies.
