Prolific robber sentenced 15 years

A 31-year-old Henderson man who pleaded guilty to a slew of robberies last year was sentenced to nearly 15 years in federal prison Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney for Nevada announced Tuesday.

Austin Joshua Peterson was sentenced to 177 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Peterson plead guilty on Sept. 27 to two counts of armed bank robbery, five counts of interference with commerce by robbery, one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence and two counts of possessing a stolen firearm.

He was arrested May 10 after he robbed a bank and led police on a high-speed chase.
