Police investigate fatal shooting in northwest valley

A man died from gunshot wounds following a verbal altercation Monday night, Las Vegas police said Tuesday.

The identity of the dead man was not released.

Police said the shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Madre Mesa Drive, near Rancho Drive and Decatur Boulevard. Police were called to the scene after gunfire was heard.

They found a man on the ground who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified a person of interest and determined the dead man and person of interest were involved in an argument before the gunfire.

Neither the age nor gender of the person of interest was disclosed.

Police said they will submit the case to the Clark County district attorney’s office for review.
