Police continue investigation into woman’s death

Detectives continue to investigate the slaying of a 53-year-old woman found dead Monday morning inside her southeast valley business.

Las Vegas police said Tuesday the woman, who was not identified, was the owner of Peru Post Etc., at 3430 E. Tropicana Ave., at Tropicana Plaza Center near Pecos Road.

According to Clark County records, the owner of Peru Post Etc. is Celia Gagnon.

The Clark County coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner death for the slain woman. They did not have that information available Tuesday afternoon.

Police said robbery did not appear to be a motive in the slaying.

The woman opened her business at 9:20 a.m., and a patron found her body at 11:20 a.m.

Police said they have not uncovered any evidence that she was shot, contrary to some reports Monday.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
