One of two suspects sentenced in two 2006 prostitute slayings

A 39-year-old Las Vegas man was sentenced earlier this month to two death sentences for killing two prostitutes in 2006.

In November, Jason McCarty was convicted of 15 felonies and one gross misdemeanor, including two counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and robbery, after a nearly monthlong trial.

Authorities said McCarty, along with Domonic “D-Roc” Malone, in May 2006 beat to death with a golf club and rocks Victoria Magee, 26, and Charlotte Combado, 34, whose bodies were found in the desert in Henderson.

Malone had earlier threatened to bury the two women in the desert if they didn’t make him money when he dropped them off at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Malone, who is representing himself, is set to stand trial January 2012.

A third co-defendant, Donald Herb, pleaded guilty in August 2006 to accessory to murder and agreed to testify against McCarty and Malone.
