North Las Vegas man wounded in shootout

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting that critically injured a North Las Vegas man Tuesday night.

Lt. Mark Reddon said the wounded man called 911 to report that he had been shot as he drove to his home in the 2100 block of Englestad Street, north of Lake Mead Boulevard.

Investigators later determined the man was actually involved in a shootout with another man in front of a house in the 900 block of Blankenship Avenue, less than a mile away.

He was taken to University Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds to his back and lungs. Reddon said the man’s condition was critical.

Reddon said the shooting appears to be gang related.
