Man killed in shooting outside pizzeria identified

The man who died after being shot at a northeast valley Chuck E. Cheese’s pizzeria Wednesday night was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office Thursday as 26-year-old Lance Moorehead.

The Las Vegas man died from a perforating gunshot wound to his back.

The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. outside the restaurant in a parking lot at 350 N. Nellis Blvd., near Stewart Avenue.

Police said Moorehead was at the pizzeria attending a child’s birthday party. Shortly before the shooting, Moorehead and a group of people left the building and were involved in a confrontation.

During the incident, police said, a man pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds, striking Moorehead, who later was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.

Evidence also indicated a car that fled the parking lot might have also been struck by gunfire during the shooting.

Police described the suspect as a heavy-set black male who was wearing a blue shirt. He was last seen in a white sedan that fled east on Stewart.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Las Vegas police Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
