Man commits suicide in double shooting in North Las Vegas

North Las Vegas police investigated a fatal double shooting Friday night, the second in less than a week.

Police said a 54-year-old man was shot inside a room at the Vegas Verdes Motel, 1635 N. Main Street, north of Owens Avenue. He was transported to University Medical Center in good condition and is expected to survive, police said.

The shooter, a man in his 50s, left the room and committed suicide in a building a few doors down. Police said the men were known to each other and the shooting could have been over money or drugs, Sgt. Tim Bedwell, a police spokesman, said.

Another double shooting Wednesday left one man dead. Police arrested Mario Camacho, 33, who was booked on a murder charge at the North Las Vegas Detention Center. Two men, ages 18 and 20, were shot. The 18-year-old man died. He had not been identified as of Friday.
