Man, charged with murder in girlriend’s death, called police

A 37-year-old man was arrested Sunday night in connection with the slaying of his girlfriend, Las Vegas police said.

Authorities did not release the identity of the deceased woman.

Police said Joseph Barrera was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.

Barrera called police at 6:48 p.m. to say he killed his girlfriend at an apartment at 370 E. Harmon Ave., near Koval Lane in the south valley, authorities said. When officers arrived at the apartment, they found a woman dead from trauma to her neck. Barrera was taken into custody without incident, police said.
