A man was arrested Wednesday morning after bringing a gun onto Clark County School District property.
Gene Cosse, 24, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. after a patrol officer found him sleeping in a car parked at a district area service center at Mountain Vista Street and Russell Road, near Southeast Career Technical Academy, school police spokesman Lt. Ken Young said.
When the officer approached the car, he noticed a handgun near the front seat, Young said.
Cosse was arrested on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and booked at Clark County Detention Center.
Young said Cosse may have been “fatigued” when he pulled into the parking lot of the maintenance facility to sleep.
Police said there was no known threat made to students or staff members .
