Man arrested for arson at Las Vegas church

A man was arrested and faces arson charges after a fire caused $100,000 in damage to a Las Vegas Baptist church early Friday morning, according to fire officials.

Adrian Kincaid, 35, was arrested following a at about 3 a.m. fire at Nellis Baptist Church at 4300 Las Vegas Blvd. N. near Nellis Boulevard. He faces charges of first-degree arson and burglary.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes.

The 10,000-square-foot church is home to the Nellis Baptist Church congregation of 400 members and Mission International Roca Eterna with about 70 members, according to city officials.

The preliminary investigation showed Kincaid might have had an argument with the pastor before the fire started, though that information is not confirmed, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jon Klassen said.

The fire did not extend into the chapel, though there was smoke damage. No injuries were reported.

The church’s insurance agency hopes the chapel will still be able to be used after they assess the damage, city officials said.

North Las Vegas Fire Department, Nevada Energy and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded as well.

Church officials did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
