Man arrested, extradited in 2004 slaying

A suspect charged with murder in a 2004 shooting has been arrested and extradited to Las Vegas.

Authorities said Michael William Cintron, also known as Manuel Solis Rodriguez, was serving a prison sentence for a crime committed in California when he was transferred to the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday.

It was not known what crime Cintron, who authorities suspect is a gang member, committed in California.

According to his Las Vegas police report, detectives said Cintron, 33, and Gary Martinez, 38, shot and killed Juan Carlos Casillas, 30, on Feb. 5, 2004.

The killing happened during a drug deal at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of Cambridge Street, near Twain Avenue and Maryland Parkway, police said.

Police said Martinez, who was arrested in December, was the shooter. Cintron acted as the backup and lookout, the report said.

The men were suspected soon after the killing and later identified with DNA evidence, the report said. A warrant for their arrest was issued in 2007.
