Man arrested by task force faces federal gun, drug charges

A marijuana task force along with FBI SWAT agents arrested a 55-year-old man Thursday morning in a south valley home, Las Vegas police said.

Garreston faces federal charges of conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug-involved premise, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, prohibited person in possession of a firearm and aiding and abetting.

The home where Garreston was arrested Thursday was near Windmill Lane and Bermuda Road.

Allen Garreston was previously arrested Nov. 5 after a drug raid, but the state charges were dismissed to clear the way for a federal indictment, police said.

In his November arrest, drugs with a street value of more than 600,000 were seized, along with 21 firearms and nearly $18,000 in cash, police said.

The task force that made the arrest Thursday was Southern Nevada Cannabis Operation and Regional Enforcement. SCORE is comprised of officers with Las Vegas and Henderson police and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
