Las Vegas police seek help in finding teen’s killer

Las Vegas police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who shot and killed a 16-year-old boy and wounded another person Thursday night.

Police said the suspect in the shooting at the Adobe Villas apartments at 3550 E. Lake Mead Blvd., near Pecos Road, is described as a black man with braided hair between the ages of 35 and 40, standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 220 pounds.

Police said the suspect and the two victims arrived at the complex in the same vehicle. After all three got out of the vehicle, the suspect shot the two victims and ran away.

When officers arrived at the complex they found two people shot. Both were taken to University Medical Center, where Manuel Philip Rios, 16, of Las Vegas, died.

Rios died from a gunshot wound to the left chest, the Clark County Coroner’s office determined. The other victim suffered a gunshot wound to the ear and is expected to survive.

Police have not determined a motive in the killing.
