May 8, 2014 - 4:55 pm
The driver who fled the scene of a four-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a woman near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Arville Street in Las Vegas has been arrested, according to police.
Edward Barber, 49, turned himself in to Metro about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. He was charged with one felony count of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, driving without a valid driver’s license, and having no proof of insurance.
The collision took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after Barber, who was driving a 1993 GMC Yukon, collided with a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that was making a left turn from westbound Charleston Boulevard. The Oldsmobile was pushed to the sidewalk, crashing into a Flex Cocktail Lounge wall. Two more cars that were stopped at the light on Arville Street were hit as well, Las Vegas police said.
Barber escaped the scene after entering Flex Cocktail Lounge and running from a back door.
The Oldsmobile’s passenger, a 75-year-old woman, died as a result of the crash. The driver sustained moderate injuries.
Police continue to investigate.
