Las Vegas man dies after shooting at apartment complex

A man was killed Sunday night in a shooting in Las Vegas.

Police said Charles Lamont Taylor Jr., 21, of Las Vegas died after a confrontation at 2200 Torrey Pines Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard.

Taylor was sitting on a wall at the Avery Park Apartments with several other men when two other men approached, police said.

After a brief confrontation, one man pulled a handgun and shot Taylor, who later died at University Medical Center.

Police said the shooting was gang-motivated but is unrelated to the shooting at a funeral last week. That incident, where seven people were injured, also is gang-related, police said.

There have been no arrests in Sunday’s shooting. Homicide detectives continued to investigate Monday.
