Las Vegas man arrested after crash kills passenger

A Las Vegas man was arrested and booked on suspected drunken driving after a single-vehicle crash that killed his passenger over the weekend.

The 27-year-old driver lost control of a blue 2005 Dodge Caravan while traveling north on U.S. Highway 95, south of Eastern Avenue, about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The minivan traveled onto the right paved shoulder and then the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to spin counterclockwise, hit the concrete center median and spin back into the first travel lane. The passenger, a 25-year-old California man, was thrown from the vehicle, police said. The van then struck the victim.

The names of those involved in the crash were not released.
