Henderson police identify woman found dead in man’s apartment

A woman who was strangled in a man’s apartment earlier this week was identified Friday.

Jamie Polk Tangan, 29, died between Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to Henderson police.

James M. Hill, 50, was arrested on murder charges Wednesday.

Police said Hill called 911 Wednesday morning and said he accidentally choked a prostitute to death during sex in his apartment at 75 N. Valle Verde Drive, near Wigwam Parkway.

Police said evidence at the scene indicated that Tangan’s death was not accidental, but details were not released.

Hill told police he woke up Tuesday and found Tangan dead.

He contemplated dumping the body and tried several different methods of suicide before he called authorities, police said Hill told detectives.

Hill was treated at a hospital after taking a large amount of pills before he was booked, police said.
