Investigators with the Department of Public Safety arrested a 19-year-old Henderson man alleged to have offered a Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles technician money to change the date of birth on his driver’s license and that of three acquaintances so that it appeared they were 21, according to the agency.
Michael William Daugherty is accused of entering the Sahara Avenue office May 12 and handing the technician a note that read, “you wanna make money call me.” The employee alerted the agency’s Compliance Enforcement Division, which along with the Department of Public Safety, contacted Daugherty and arranged a meeting.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Daugherty offered $100 to have his suspended license reinstated and the date of birth changed. He later offered to pay a total of $375 if the birth dates on the driver’s licenses of three female acquaintances were also changed, according to the DMV.
Daugherty was arrested May 24 when he and the three female acquaintances showed up at the Flamingo Road motor vehicles office to complete the transaction, according to the incident report. The female acquaintances told law enforcement they paid Daugherty $125 each for the altered licenses. They were released to the custody of their parents.
Daugherty, who was already on house arrest and wearing an ankle bracelet, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of bribery, forgery, possession or sale of false identity documents, unlawful use of a license and burglary.
