Ex-nightclub mogul Waits pleads no contest to DUI

Former nightclub mogul and ex-Paris Hilton boyfriend Cy Waits pleaded no contest Wednesday to misdemeanor driving under the influence of marijuana for the couple’s high-profile drug arrest on the Strip in August 2010.

As part of a plea deal with Waits, prosecutors agreed to drop two other charges against him, including possession of marijuana.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace William Kephart sentenced Waits to pay a $585 fine and attend a DUI class and a victims impact panel.

Afterward, Waits’ attorney, Richard Schonfeld, said: “We’re pleased with the outcome. Now Mr. Waits can put this chapter behind him.”

Since his arrest in front of the Wynn Las Vegas, Waits has lost his job running nightclubs for Steve Wynn. He also lost his Hilton Hotel heiress girlfriend.

Schonfeld said Waits is working on projects here and in Los Angeles.

After her arrest for cocaine possession, Hilton pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors and is serving a year of strict probation.
