Deputies chase robbery suspects across Colorado River

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Two Arizona bank robbery suspects were captured in Nevada after swimming across the Colorado River on Wednesday afternoon.

Mohave County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Trish Carter said it was unclear whether the unidentified male suspects got away with any money in the lunch-hour robbery of Horizon Community Bank in Fort Mohave.

Carter said deputies engaged in a high-speed pursuit of the suspects’ vehicle into Bullhead City, where they abandoned the vehicle. They then swam to Laughlin.

Carter said one of the pursuing deputies flagged down a personal watercraft, and its civilian operator drove him across the river.

The watercraft then returned to Arizona and delivered the second deputy to the Nevada side, where they caught the suspects.

Carter said the men would be held in Clark County pending extradition.

She said no one was harmed during the bank robbery.
