CCSD teacher, teacher’s aide arrested in separate incidents

A Clark County School District teacher and a teacher’s aide were arrested at their respective schools Friday in separate incidents.

Carmen Cozart, 43, was arrested at Mendoza Elementary School on a charge of threatening to cause bodily harm, a misdemeanor.

“She was upset about something and made threats to an administrator,” Clark County School District police Lt. Ken Young said.

The teacher’s aide, who has been with the district since 2004 and the school since 2009, is being held on $1,000 bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

Police on Friday also arrested Danielle Garry, 39, a biology teacher at Chaparral High School, on multiple charges including possession of stolen property, burglary and obtaining money under false pretenses. She is being held at the jail on $11,800 bail. Young said Garry is accused of stealing electronics from the school. She has been with the school district and the school since January 2003.

A school district spokesman said the two are still employed with the district and their status probably won’t change until school resumes next month.
