Argument over money leads to slaying in southwest valley

An argument over money at a Halloween party led to a slaying in the southwest valley early Saturday morning, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased man was not released, but police described him Sunday as in his late 30s or early 40s.

Officers responded about 3 a.m. to the 6300 block of West Dewey Avenue, near Russell Road and Torrey Pines Drive, and found a man dead on the road from what appeared to be head trauma.

Police learned that the two men were at the party when they got into an argument over money.

One man hit the other man, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.

Police described the suspect as a white male in his 30s. Police said he had not been arrested as of Sunday afternoon, and investigators received varying accounts of the fight from witnesses.
