7 motorcycle gang members indicted in North Las Vegas slaying

Updated June 2, 2022 - 5:39 pm

A motorcycle gang member was extradited to Las Vegas, and two others were arrested Wednesday after a sweeping indictment in connection with a fatal stabbing in North Las Vegas.

Seven people were indicted in the death of Tommy Wayne Kemery, 40, of Puyallup, Washington. Kemery was found Sept. 6 on Interstate 15 near mile marker 57 with multiple stab wounds, police said at the time.

Justin “Bones” Davis, 33, who was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Friday, was one of six people indicted on charges of murder and robbery, according to court records, which show the indictments were filed May 5.

Another man was indicted on being an accessory to murder.

The men were associated with the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang, a national group headquartered in Philadelphia. One of the men indicted, James “J-Rock” Purdie, is the group’s national vice president, according to court records.

Davis is a member of Wyde Bodie, a motorcycle group that supports the larger Wheels of Soul organization, court records show.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Mike Dickerson said that two other men were arrested in other states on Wednesday.

It was unclear which of the other men were arrested, as District Court records showed outstanding warrants for all of the co-defendants as of Wednesday.

The other men indicted on murder charges are Raymond “Goldie” Segura; Darrel “Caddy Lack” Cobb; Walter “Ganja” Perry; and Bernard Woods, court records show.

Donald “Chicago Black” Green was indicted on the accessory to murder charge.

Dickerson said Kemery was a member of Chosen Few motorcycle gang, which was involved in a robbery in San Diego where property of the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang was stolen.

In early September, members of the Wheels of Souls were finishing a cross-country ride from Philadelphia to San Diego and passed through Las Vegas on the way home, according to transcripts of a grand jury hearing.

After leaving Las Vegas about 6 a.m. Sept. 6, the motorcyclists saw Kemery and another member of the Chosen Few, riding on Interstate 15 in the far northeast valley, south of Apex Crossing Lane.

The other Chosen Few member sped away, as Wheels of Soul members chased him “like wolves on a lamb,” a witness testified during the grand jury hearing.

A group of other motorcyclists surrounded Kemery, and Green kicked at Kemery’s bike, pushing it over, according to court transcripts.

After forcing him off the road, the group beat and stabbed Kemery multiple times.

The motorcyclists also stole some of Kemery’s property, including his revolver and motorcycle vest, according to court records.

By the afternoon of Sept. 6, the group had traveled into Utah and stopped at a gas station near Green River, about a six-hour drive from Las Vegas. There, Utah police stopped the group and arrested three people including Segura, court records show.

During the grand jury hearing in May, a crime scene specialists testified that Kemery’s blood was found on a piece of Segura’s clothing left at the scene, and Woods’ fingerprints were on Kemery’s bag.

Detectives traveled to Texas, Utah and Philadelphia to interview multiple suspects in the case, who denied being involved with Kemery’s killing.

Wheels of Soul motorcyclists are also suspected in the killing of another Chosen Few member that occurred in San Diego on Sept. 12, six days after Kemery died, Dickerson said.

Further details on that case were not available.

Before the group attacked Kemery, he waved at the motorcyclists, apparently unaware of the feud between the gangs, according to testimony given during the grand jury hearing.

“Tommy Kemery was in town for a wedding,” Dickerson said. “He kissed his wife goodbye. She took flight back to Washington, and he was going to ride home.”
