UNR to unveil stations for charging electric cars

RENO — Need a plug for your electric car? The University of Nevada, Reno is making it easier for electric-vehicle owners to charge up.

UNR in partnership with NV Energy will unveil two electric vehicle charging stations on Thursday.

The Verdek ChargePoint Stations are located at the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex and West Stadium Parking Complex. To use the charging stations, faculty, staff, students or campus visitors must obtain an annual or daily parking permit for the parking garage use.

Users must first go online to www.chargepoint.com to create an account and obtain an access card.

Officials say UNR’s parking services will pick up the cost of the electricity consumption from these stations.
