LVCVA panel OKs hiring of director of internal audit

The audit committee of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has approved of the hiring of an executive with Boyd Gaming as the organization’s new director of internal audit.

Mike Bond, director of financial projects at Boyd, will take the position on Sept. 12, replacing Jon Reese, who retired in June.

The five-member audit committee on Friday unanimously approved Bond’s hiring in a brief special meeting.

Bond, 40, who didn’t attend the meeting, has been with Boyd since 2002 and has spent eight years in an internal audit position before taking the finance position. He is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor. He will be paid $105,000 a year.

His hiring was endorsed by Barbara Bolender, the LVCVA’s chief human resource officer, and chief financial officer Rana Lacer.
