Las Vegas ranked second for Fourth of July destinations

Las Vegas is the second-most popular Fourth of July travel destination, a survey from Travelocity shows.

Only New York City topped Las Vegas in the poll. The Big Apple leapfrogged from the No. 4 spot in 2011 to No. 1 this year.

Rounding out the top five are Orlando, Fla.; Los Angeles and Denver.

Travelocity’s survey includes travel plans for June 28-July 7.

Travelocity also says travelers will pay an average airfare of $365 to visit Las Vegas.

“Travelers looking for a deal should keep in mind the price to beat this Fourth of July is $391,” Courtney Scott, senior editor at Travelocity, said in a statement.

Orlando has the cheapest average airfare on the list at $316. Seattle, No. 8 on the list, has the most expensive average airfare at $412.
