Irish air carrier to begin flights to Las Vegas

Updated May 22, 2024 - 7:19 am

Aer Lingus, the flag-carrier airline of Ireland known for the shamrock in its livery, will begin three-times-weekly seasonal nonstop flights between Dublin and Las Vegas in October.

The airline announced the new route Tuesday.

When service begins Oct. 25, the airline will fly round trips on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through April 29.

Aer Lingus plans to use a twin-engine, 317-passenger Airbus A330-300 jet on the route.

“Aer Lingus is bringing this iconic destination to customers seeking an escape to the winter sun,” Aer Lingus CEO Lynn Embleton said in a release. “In addition to the warm climate, Las Vegas is renowned for being one of the greatest entertainment capitals in the world, famous for its shows, concerts, sports events and natural wonders. It is a long-held ambition of ours to fly to Las Vegas. The launch of this new Aer Lingus route is a significant moment for us and our customers.”

Dublin will become the 20th international destination — the eighth overseas — served from Harry Reid International Airport, and Aer Lingus will be the 19th international carrier to fly to Las Vegas’ airport.

Flights will leave Dublin at 3:20 p.m. local time, and arrive in Las Vegas at 5:50 p.m. Las Vegas time. The return trip will leave at 7:35 p.m., and arrive the next day at 1:10 p.m.

Passengers on the Aer Lingus flights from Dublin will be able to use the U.S. pre-clearance facilities at Dublin Airport, allowing them to complete all necessary immigration and customs checks prior to departure.

“On behalf of all of Las Vegas, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Aer Lingus to Las Vegas for the very first time,” said Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in a release.

“In 2023, our city welcomed more than 52,000 visitors from Ireland, and this direct, nonstop service from Dublin will undoubtedly be motivation for Irish travelers and visitors throughout the UK and Europe to discover everything Las Vegas has to offer. We congratulate Aer Lingus on this expansion and look forward to a very successful partnership.
