Pacific Links buys DragonRidge, its third golf course in Las Vegas area
Canada-based Pacific Links International has acquired the DragonRidge Country Club, adding the private Henderson golf course to its growing portfolio of high-end golf facilities in the Las Vegas Valley.
The sale price was just more than $11 million, according to Keith Cubba, listing broker for the seller, developer Rich MacDonald.
Pacific Links owns three impressive golf properties in the Las Vegas market — the SouthShore and Southern Highlands golf clubs, both acquired in 2011, and now DragonRidge, which is south of the 215 Beltway and west of U.S. Highway 93.
The deal includes a 39,000-square-foot clubhouse that can host parties and catered events; a 2,600-square-foot golf instruction facility, a 15,000-square-foot fitness building with workout machines and a cart barn for 72 electric carts.
The property is 186 acres at 552 S. Stephanie St. The par-72, 18-hole, 7,032-yard course was built in 2000. The course’s geographic features that run into the McCullough mountains include desert foothills, canyons and preserved rock formations. It’s named after a rocky ridge known to locals as the “Sleeping Dragon.”
“The big story here is Pacific Links, with the ownership of SouthShore and Southern Highlands, has a pretty good lock on the private golf club market in Las Vegas, given the access its members will have to three of the better clubs in town,” said Cubba, Las Vegas-based vice president of Colliers International commercial real estate company, who handles golf course sales.
Pacific Links, owned by Canadian entrepreneur Du Sha, is scouting the Las Vegas and Southern California areas for more upscale private golf courses. In April 2013, Pacific Links bought Dove Canyon Golf Club in Orange County, Calif., which at the time was the 10th golf property in the company’s portfolio. Pacific Links also owns five courses in Hawaii and one in West Virginia.
Pacific Links allows members to play any of its courses for a cart fee and makes possible discounts at more than 80 world-class clubs around the globe.
“We’re obviously very excited to welcome DragonRidge into the Pacific Links family of clubs. It should be a nice complement to SouthShore and Southern Highlands,” said Harry Turner, a Pacific Links vice president.
