INTEL: Southwest swiftness, Town Square shuttle service and Honey Salt’s Summer of Love
It didn’t take long for Southwest Airlines to work out the details of making its new mobile boarding passes available systemwide.
On May 21, Southwest announced that passengers boarding flights at McCarran International Airport could get a matrix bar-coded image emailed or texted to their smartphones that could be flashed at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints and at gates to board flights.
The airline said then that the service was available at 28 cities with more coming by year’s end.
Southwest should have said “by month’s end.” It took only a week for the airline to roll out the technology to the remaining 89 U.S. destinations.
Southwest also upgraded its Apple iOS and Android apps to include important travel information like flight status, boarding position and gate information, plus access to the mobile boarding pass from the homepage. The page provides continual updates beginning 24 hours before flight time.

United Express is dropping its 32 weekly round trips between Las Vegas and Fresno, Calif.
St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines, which partners with United on commuter routes, said the Fresno-Las Vegas flights were underperforming.
Flights end Sept. 2 and will leave Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air as the only carrier on the route between McCarran International and Fresno Yosemite International airports, with six weekly flights.

Town Square now offers a complimentary shuttle service seven days a week to and from the shopping destination to the Strip.
The shuttle runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., picking up and dropping off on Town Square East across from the pond in Town Square Park.
Town Square is on Las Vegas Boulevard at the intersection of Interstate 15 and the 215 Beltway and includes shops, restaurants, an 18-screen movie theater and 252,000 square feet of high-end office space. It is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Honey Salt in Summerlin is introducing the “Summer of Love,” a community-focused program to raise money for local charities.
From June 16 through Aug. 22, chefs at Honey Salt will partner with a different local charity for a three-course Taste of Honey menu, highlighting seasonal and local ingredients. Five dollars from each menu purchased and $1 from each Summer of Love Sangria at the bar will be donated to that week’s charity.
The charities include The Torino Foundation, United Way of Southern Nevada, Three Square, Desert Reign, Opportunity Village, Green Our Planet, Keep Memory Alive, Agassi Foundation, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, Create a Change Now and Girls on the Run.

Online liquidator Bazargin opened its first retail center June 7 at 7585 Commercial Way, Suite D in Henderson.
