Go Solar says it’s cutting jobs, reducing hours for others
CARSON CITY — A small, locally owned Las Vegas rooftop-solar company announced Thursday it is cutting jobs and reducing hours due to the adoption of a new net metering rate by state regulators that took effect Jan. 1.
Go Solar announced that the new less favorable tariff for rooftop-solar customers forced the electrical company to eliminate about 17 jobs in Las Vegas and drastically reduce the hours of 10 others.
Scott Shaw, director of research and development at Go Solar, said the decision to include existing solar customers in the new rate “is particularly callous and leaves Nevadans to question whether the state and its elected leaders would ever place the financial security of regular citizens above the financial interests of NV Energy.”
The small company joins two large national companies, SolarCity and Sunrun, in cutting jobs in Nevada due to the new rates.
